If you are a beginner tent camper, don’t stress over picking out a great starter tent. There are so many good budget tents for camping that will be perfect for all your outdoor adventures. We have put together a few of our favorites in this post to help you pick out the right one.
Most campers only get to go a few times a year so that’s why we suggest saving your money and picking one of these.
1. Coleman Sundome
The Coleman Sundome tent is one of Coleman’s most popular tents. If you are looking for affordability and functionality, this is the one. We love this one because you can choose 2,3,4 or 6 person size. It’s easy to put up and they can be up in under 10 minutes. They have great storage, welded corners, and covered seams, and a port for an extension cord.
I would keep in mind that the 2 person tent is going to literally hold 2 sleeping bags, so I would only suggest this one for a solo camper who doesn’t want to break the bank.
2. Coleman Evanston Dome with Screen Porch
The Coleman Evanston Dome with Screen Porch comes in 2 sizes, a 6 person and an 8 person. It’s more than the sundome, but this tent has a screened-in porch that has a full floor to keep the bugs out. It can be easily set up in 15 minutes or less and it fits 2 queen air mattresses. It has protected seams, a strong wind frame, and zipper protection.
This is a great budget tent for a small family or would make a roomy tent for any couple. The screened porch is a great added benefit, just keep in mind that it won’t keep animals out of your food, especially bears. We always keep our food in a bear-proof cooler and the pantry items in a storage bin inside the truck.
3. Ozark Trail Cabin Tent
The Ozark Cabin is a 10 person tent and it is huge! It’s a family-style cabin tent with large windows and a room divider. It has a gear loft and an electrical cord access port. It has sealed seams, a welded 6″ tub floor, and a rain fly. You might need more than one person to set this one up, but it is definitely an affordable family tent. You can check for Ozark tents at Walmart here.
4. Core 9 Person Extended Dome Tent
This Core Dome Tent sleeps 9 people. It will hold 3 queen air mattresses and has a gear loft with a lantern hook. It has heat-sealed seams to keep water out, a spacious interior, and venting from the ground to let cool air in and hot air out through the ceiling. It also has an electrical cord port.
5. Campros 8 Person Tent
The Campro 8 Person Tent offers a one-year quality assurance warranty and can be put up in 5 minutes with only 2 people. It’s roomy, water-resistant, and has a room divider. It comes with a rainfly and has a port for electrical cords.
When it comes to budget tents for outdoor camping, there are so many to choose from. We wanted to give you some good, affordable choices to help you start your camping adventures off on the right foot.
