Lauryne’s Budget Popup Camper Remodel

If you are looking for a bright and airy popup remodel as inspiration, then Lauryne’s budget popup remodel is for you. I love looking at beautiful popup camper remodels, and when I saw Lauryne’s popup after pictures, I was mesmerized. She (and her husband Rusty, of course) did such a great job!

She transformed this dated 2007 Starcraft Stardust into a trendy and modern camping dream!

Lauryne has experience renovating campers, she remodeled a fifth wheel to live in (for 8 months) before getting her popup. She also had a rooftop tent that they loved, but it just wasn’t big enough for them and the dogs to camp in, so they got the popup…

Here are the before pictures:

She wanted to renovate this popup on a budget, and I think she did a pretty great job! She painted the entire camper, added her favorite sticky tile backsplash, changed the flooring, recovered the cushions, and put new curtains in.

All of this…on a budget. It just goes to show that you don’t have to spend a ton of money to get a beautiful camper.

She chose a light and bright paint color that she used throughout the entire popup remodel. She also decided to go with white sticky subway tile for her backsplash and accent areas. I think it looks so clean and bright.

When you are working in a small space, anything to help open up the area is always a good idea. When we painted our popup camper, we went with white too. It just has a bright, clean look to it. You can always use color in other areas as an accent.

She went with a beachy look on the floors. She got her peel and stick vinyl plank floors from Lowes. (The specs are: Safari 3-mil x 4-in W x 36-in L water-resistant peel and stick vinyl plank flooring #0813605.) Lauryne talks about how easy they are to install on her YouTube channel. She has a video dedicated to floor installation that you can see here.

I think I’m the most impressed with how good her countertops look. She covered them with Designfoile d-c-fix contact paper. It looks so good! She has a video showing exactly how she did it (with her table). It’s pretty easy and very cheap!!

For the curtains, she bought some blackout curtains at Costco ($18), and that is a brilliant idea! I wish I would have thought of that. It makes me want to change mine out right now.

I like the camper to be dark when we sleep, which is why we made our bunk end covers and DIY insulation, but the blackout curtains are a great idea!

She got her beautiful shower curtain at Target to cover the bathroom. It’s so pretty and adds a decorative touch! I love it.

If you don’t have a bathroom in your popup, you can see our alternatives here.

I love how Lauryne used accent colors throughout the camper but kept it bright and airy. The red couch cushions really make it pop. She recovered them herself and even has a video for that. I definitely recommend you head over to her YouTube channel and check out her videos! You can also find her on Instagram @laurynejune_projects.

It’s been an absolute pleasure diving into her remodel! She hopes to renovate a hard sided camper next, and we can’t wait to check that out! If you want more DIY inspiration, see our open concept popup remodel.
